Privacy

Privacy policy

Effective 12 July 2026. This policy explains how Kigi Bonsai handles information when you use the Kigi mobile app, website, enquiry form, and related services.

Information we collect

We may collect account details such as your email address, bonsai collection records, care logs, journal entries, preferences, subscription status, and content you choose to upload, including tree photographs.

When you contact Kigi through an enquiry form, we collect the details and message you submit so we can respond.

Device permissions

If you use camera, photo library, notifications, or location-related features, the app requests the relevant device permission before access. You can change these permissions in your device settings.

How we use information

We use information to provide and synchronise accounts, organise bonsai collections, calculate care schedules, generate features you request, manage subscriptions, respond to enquiries, maintain security, diagnose faults, and improve the service.

Local demo mode

When the app is used in demo mode, sample and locally created data may remain on your device rather than being synchronised to a Kigi account. Removing the app or clearing its storage may delete that local data.

Service providers

Kigi relies on service providers for cloud storage and authentication, app infrastructure, payments and subscriptions, artificial-intelligence features, weather features, and customer enquiries. These providers process only the information needed to perform their services and may process information outside Australia.

Artificial-intelligence features

When you request an AI-assisted scan or advice feature, relevant text, photographs, and tree context may be sent to an AI service to produce the requested result. Do not submit sensitive personal information in tree notes, images, or prompts.

Sharing and sale

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with service providers, when you direct us to, when required by law, or where reasonably necessary to protect Kigi, its users, or the public.

Retention and security

We retain information for as long as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and protect the service. We use reasonable safeguards, but no internet or storage system is completely secure.

Your choices and rights

You may ask to access, correct, export, or delete personal information associated with your account. Some information may be retained where required by law or for legitimate security and record-keeping purposes.

Children

Kigi is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without appropriate consent.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Kigi changes. The effective date will be revised when material updates are made.
